Job for a General Farm Worker <=>Malton, Yorkshire<=>

This is a position on a forward thinking family run farm of over 200 Ha. Consisting of livestock & arable operations with additional contracting services.

Stock: 150 head lowland commercial & pedigree breeding ewes.

Cropping: Grass, Winter Barley, Winter Wheat, Oilseed rape, Spring oats & Vining peas.

Generic Role

You will be required to undertake all arable operations to a high standard, including primary & secondary cultivation of soils, Drilling, Spraying with a 24m trailed Amazone sprayer, Granular application spreading variable rate via iPad / GPS & Slug pelleting.

Day to day care of livestock to include seasonal duties for example shearing, handling & lambing duties when required.

In addition to the above work you will be required to work off farm alone or with colleagues in the role of examination, testing & certification of Agricultural & Horticultural application equipment across the wider Yorkshire region on customers holdings on behalf of SCS Spreader & Sprayer Testing Ltd a nationwide machinery testing & certification company

Soil sampling is also required on behalf of SOYL - Frontier Agriculture, again requiring travel across the Yorkshire region.

The role will involve some unsociable working hours to include nights, evenings, weekends & bank holidays and will require you to be able to work alone or as part of a small team.

Further training will be given for the right candidate so attendance at training / update days will be required as part of the role.

Essential Criteria

Full UK Driving License which must include the following categories B, B1, BE, f

PA1, PA2, PA4 & PA4S, PA6

ATV Handling Certificate

Experience of: Ploughing / cultivations, Drilling, Spraying, Application of Slug Pellets, Fertiliser Application.

Livestock experience - Sheep including lambing.

Customer Service Experience, IT Skills, ability to use iPad & complete hand written forms.

Desirable Criteria

Machinery maintenance

Estate maintenance, Fencing, Hedge cutting

First Aid at Work Qualifications


Livestock experience (Sheep): selection for sale / slaughter, Dagging, Shearing, Hoof trimming, Vaccination/Worming.

Should you not meet all of the above essential & desirable criteria then training could be provided as part of the remuneration package. This can be discussed at interview.

You will be required to work to a consistently high standard at all times & work on your own initiative as well as follow instructions.

You must be able to prioritise tasks & pay close attention to detail whilst working in a tidy & thoughtful manner.

You should be able to communicate clearly & politely with customers & maintain confidentiality where required.

Experience is essential in at least some of the areas outlined above, any qualifications gained must be backed up by providing the original certificates at interview along with proof of a full clean UK driving license.
