Stockperson Job on Mixed Farm <=>Oxfordshire<=>

This role will take responsibility for the day to day management of the farm’s sheep flock of 600 ewes on a precision grazed system through breeding and finishing. The role will also assist in other farm enterprises including suckler cattle, dairy calf rearing, laying hens arable, forage production and renewable energy production. 

Key responsibilities include;

Daily stock checks 

Frequent moves of livestock and electric fencing to support the implementation of the the precision grazing plan to optimise grass utilisation and regrowth

Implement agreed flock health plan, animal health & welfare policies and nutrition plan with the support of the Farm Supervisor and vets

Planned and unplanned treatments with the required medicines/vaccines as prescribed by veterinary health plan and vet

Utilise sheep management software to ensure compliance and inform management decisions

General tractor driving to include duties covering any grassland/pasture and arable management

Involvement with trials as required

General estate maintenance (pest prevention, fencing, building maintenance etc.)

The 3 bedroom cottage is based on the farm. All of the farm team live in cottages on site. Schools and shops are within 2-3 miles. Local pub within walking distance of the farm. 3 miles from the centre of Oxford.

We are unique farm as we also have a sustainability consultancy business on site working with businesses such as McDonald’s, Ikea, Marks and Spencer, Co-op, Fererro.  The farm is integrally linked with the consultancy business and we are constantly pushing ourselves to produce food as sustainably as possible.   The farm is 1200 acres of organic land with a large proportion of HLS & SSI river meadow. 150 acres in arable rotation of oats, arable silage, grass/herb ley.  70 suckler cows and 600 ewes producing own replacements with stock finished on farm.  1400 laying hens with on farm packing and eggs supplied locally in Oxford. We operate both Home Office Licensed and Field trials facility. Farm Ability is an outdoor, farm based programme for people with learning disabilities and autism based on the farm too.
