Maydencroft Farm is set in the countryside of North Hertfordshire just beyond the northern boundary of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The Maydencroft herd of Longhorn Cattle was established in 1982 by Robert Williams when Longhorns were very much a rare breed. The success of the herd here was an instrumental part of re-establishing this much loved, iconic British farm animal across the region.

Due to continued growth, the role of Stock Person has opened up at Maydencroft Farm. The Stock Person for Maydencroft Farm aides the Working Farm Manager with the responsibility for all livestock and farming operations of the Company, maintaining and improving our high profile herd of longhorn cattle and flocks of Hebridean and Shropshire sheep.

- Helping the Working Farm Manager with day to day management and care of livestock which will include feeding, mucking out and bedding up.

- General care of livestock

- Visiting grazing sites across Hertfordshire to check livestock

- Tractor driving, including topping, harrowing, rolling, hedge cutting, towing and assisting with silaging

- Communicating with the farm’s conservation grazing clients

- Regularly interfacing with the public

- Helping with the Farmplan recording system

- Helping with purchasing and sales of livestock

- Helping to order feeds and other goods

- Helping to liaise with vets, hoof trimmers, hauliers, etc

- Any other reasonable duties as required from time to time

- A keen interesting in farming and experience in managing livestock

- Holds a tractor licence and able to tow trailers

- Holds valid driving licence

- Has completed an Apprenticeship in Agriculture
