Staff accommodation is a 1 or 2 bedroom self-catering cottage; solid fuel heating and water.  Lambay has off-grid wind and solar energy, with back-up generator.   A regular private ferry operates between the island and the mainland (Malahide) twice a week - usually Mon and Fri depending on tide and weather.  Crossing takes about 30 minutes.  Other boats often come and go during the week, especially in summer; but most employees here enjoy island life and go ashore infrequently - perhaps once a month.  Groceries are ordered on-line weekly (fresh veg available from the kitchen garden).  While the island is comparatively inaccessible, the existence is not lonely and the pace of life is busy.  We have frequent visitors, including regular wwoofers (agricultural volunteers).  The pretty village of Malahide has all the amenities of a small town and is 20 minutes by taxi to Dublin airport.  Lambay lies within the coverage of several mobile phone providers and free high-speed internet is available. Dogs are welcome.  There are no roads on the island, but various options for long or short-term parking on the mainland can be negotiated.

Distance from shops and amenities400m walk - once ashore!

Other Information

The position is well suited to either a single employee or one with a young family.  There are 2 toddlers (aged 2 and 3) on the island and we aspire to home school for the foreseeable future; playmates for our children and female companionship for the 2 other women on the island would be welcome.  A partner able to assist with home schooling would be desirable.
