The Estate:

Slawston Grange Estate is a progressive livestock and cropping farm business based in the desirable Welland Valley in South Leicestershire.

Aberdeen Angus cross cattle are reared and finished for a major supermarket on a premium contract.  Our sheep enterprise consists of an MV accredited closed flock of pedigree Lleyns.  All of the livestock are run on a high welfare, high health status, grassland-based system with top class housing and handling facilities.  We also grow combinable crops and forage crops for livestock feeding during the winter months.  The business manages in excess of 35 acres of woodland and undertakes environmental conservation work across our two farms.

We are a growing business that is always looking to make farming efficiencies and explore new opportunities.

Role Summary:

Reporting directly to the Farm and Estate Manager.

Hedge, fence, ditch, drain and track maintenance across the farmed Estate.

Undertaking farm and Estate property repairs.

Tree and woodland management including new plantation maintenance, woodland thinning and processing of fallen trees.

Processing and sorting of wood from the Estate into quality fuel.

Amenity grass cutting and weed control.

Maintenance and repair of tools, machines and equipment.

Support to the farm team when required to include beef and sheep assistance and machinery use.

Seasonal assistance to the Estate shoot working closely with the gamekeeper.

General tidying of buildings, yards and farmed areas.

Qualifications and Experience:

Experience of working in a farm / Estate environment.

Formal farm / machinery / countryside qualifications desirable.

Competent use of machinery and tools.

Experience in machine and tool servicing / maintenance desirable.

Suitable qualifications in chainsaw use, woodland management and pesticide application desirable, but training may be provided.

Must be satisfied working alone or as part of a small team and in all weather conditions.


40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, plus weekend relief work as agreed.

Basic salary to be agreed depending on experience, plus extra hours / occasional weekends at standard rate as agreed.

Standard annual holiday entitlement of 28 days including bank holidays.

References will be sought.
