Englishman from London, not originally from a farmers background but got interested as a youngster and have been haphazardly trying to learn and navigate within the industry ever since! Animal Science Master's graduate. Livestock experience with beef/sheep/dairy, some arable. Certainly no expert but looking to learn as much as possible. Hard worker and easy to get along with.

Position: Farmhand​ Responsibilities - - Feeding, weighing, shipping, administering medical care to livestock herds. Feeding,​ ​weighing, shipping​, administering​ ​medical​ ​care​ ​to​ ​livestock ​herds​​. - - Assistance during lambing season, tending ewes and newborn lambs Feb - May 2016, Jul - Sep 2014, Jun - Aug 2013:  Ranch and Cattle company:  in Texas, USA, and a large cattle producer. Position: Cattlehand/ranchhand. Responsibilities - - Rounding up, weighing, vaccinating, branding, weening, castrating and other general herd care of cattle. - Assisting firemen in setting/monitoring controlled burns for grassland pest management. - Water checks and predator culling (of coyotes) - Utilities construction/maintenance of wind pumps/wind mills/water wells and cattle pens. Jan - Jun 2014 Somerset, UK: Farm: worked on a weekly part time basis for two independent dairy farms alongside undergraduate studies. Position: Relief milker and farm hand Responsibilities: - Running milking parlour as relief milker for herd of 100 + cows. - General herd care.

Jul 2018 - Oct 2018: Prewitt Farms: A large arable farm in Mississippi, USA growing cotton, soybeans, maize and rice. Position: Harvest role Responsibilities: - Operating farm machinery to bring in harvest (variety of tractors although I wasn't on the combine). - Laying irrigation apparatus (polypipe). - Monitoring crop health and growth. - Vehicle maintenance/repair.
