In summer 2018 I worked on a dairy farm, my daily tasks included feeding and looking after calves, scraping the yard and pushing the food up for cows, cleaning the cow cubicles and encouraging any stragglers out of the parlour, I would feed the bull and communicate any concerns and observations to the team members. I was involved in moving cattle when required as part of the team, I also assisted with milking on a few occasions.

Farming background

I studied motor vehicle at college last year and as part of that spent some time in placement in garages. I also worked a day a week with my dad doing fencing and strimming, tidying and general labouring work. I have worked at the local chip shop part time for the past 2 years. Since January I have also been working for ‘Thomley’ at weekends and over the school holiday, as a casual playworker. Thomley is a centre for disabled children, I have worked a lot here over the summer period.
