Farming background

May 2016- May 2018 While working here I have gained masses of experience driving tractors with machinery and trailers, doing anything from rotivating to plowing with and without navigation. I have also gained around 5 months experience driving challengers (flat-lifting and powerharrowing) and also spraying with the challenger in front of the planter. Working here has taught me a lot, I have learnt how to work independently and overcome problems on the spot with limited options available to me. I've also had to learn to think on my feet and work closely with others to make sure that the job runs smoothly and to time.  June 2018- August 2018 While at I learnt many other aspects to farming than what I learned here. While working here I have spent 3 months on irrigation, which was a job I had never done before, and after around 2 weeks of employment I was left to manage and run the irrigation systems that the company has in sleaford. I have also been given the opportunity to learn how to drill Spinach and recently have done between the farms in sleaford and Wisbeach.  Beside this I have also been harvesting spinach which involves riding alongside the harvester with a trailer of dolavs filling each individually.  Working here has taught me a lot already as I have had to manage me and others to ensure everything had water and has been running 24/7 through last years heatwave.  August 2018-March 2019 I went here for potato harvest as I couldn’t be offered enough hours through the winter, here I gained experience carting and driving a four row PMC harvester, including all maintenance and repairs. I also spent time working down stubble land ready for planting and also flat lifting.  March 2019- June 2019 I moved after they offered me a position Power Harrowing in front of one of the planters, the farm is also a lot closer to home than bratleys which was another reason for moving. Since being here I have gained my PA1 and PA2 spray tickets. I left here because I didn’t feel like I was learning anything, I like to keep myself active and learning all the time. Velcourt Farm (current) I came here after seeing an advert online for the job. I decided to take it as I had only worked on vegetable farms previous to this so it’s given me the experience in arable side of farming. Here I have learnt to drive the Quadtrac for cultivation which I am enjoying throughly.

I swim and play rugby, I also have half of my pilots license.
