Farming background

March 2016 to Present Over the past couple of years’ I have been recovering from a period of ill health, and am now looking to get back into farming in some way, shape or form. Herdsman - March 2015 to March 2016 My duties in this role included Milking, feeding baby calves, assisting with calving cows, tractor driving, general farming duties. Herdsman - February 2014 to February 2015 In this position I assisted with the management of the beef cattle on the livestock farm. In addition to this I undertook a variety of research into modern feeding and production techniques, cattle conditioning and animal health, which then enabled me to improve the efficiency and wellbeing of the farming operation. My work in this role also involved general farm duties such as, undertaking repairs and maintenance, animal husbandry, animal health management, stock handling, feeding, caring for sick and new born livestock and milking cattle. It was also important in this role to carry out the arable farming duties producing food for the animals and for sale. Emergency Farmer - May 2003 to May 2012 Sixty Seven Cow Ltd were a national contract milking and emergency farm cover company who provide skilled and knowledgeable individuals to cover holidays, extended periods of sickness and occasions where it may be necessary for the resident farmer to have time off. In this role I worked all over Great Britain temporarily managing and working on dairy, arable and livestock farms ensuring animals were looked after when their owners were unable to do so. Dairy Farmer - Laycock 1970 to 2003 On leaving school, I began full time work in our family dairy farm, working alongside my family members to take care of our dairy, arable and livestock farm. I continued to work on the farm until my older family members passed away and to much regret we had to sell the farm to pay the various taxes and duties.
