Dedicated and Passionate Shepherd/Stockperson  looking to progress into the future of livestock farming. I am originally from Exmoor where I grew up helping my father with cattle and sheep, which is when my passion was born.  I am looking to locate back to the South West Area.  I have a wealth of experience with Sheep and Cattle and would like to continue to develop within a progressive Farm.  I believe that soil and grassland management key to success in the future of farming. I treat everything as it were my own and only the best results satisfy me.

June 2012 - Current Head Shepherd and GFW • Day to day Management of 800 Lleyn ewe flock plus 200 ewe lambs • Responsible for all medicines, feed, movement records and cross compliance • Fattening and grading all lambs • Purchasing of Livestock • Preparing Ewes and Lambs for sale at market and local shows • Benchmarking with AHBD on the progressive sheep group • Organising contractors for shearing and lambing • Showing at local and national level • Grass management which includes Electric fencing Forage Crops as part of the Arable Rotations for Sheep and Cattle • Tractor and Loader work during siledge and hay making and harvest • Maintaining and erecting new fences and gates on the estate when time allows • Assisting with suckler herd and fat cattle when required • Work my own established Sheepdogs on a daily basis and are trained to a high standard by myself June 2010-June 2012 Head Shepherd  • Day to day management of the 1350 ewe flock and the Store Lamb Enterprise: consisting of fattening 10000 plus lambs on turnips and grass annually • Analysing costs of whole flock and store lambs • Doing all stock tasks, stocking rates • Grass Management and Electric Fencing • Ordering all medicines and feed • Organising staff and contractors • Keeping flock records and dealing with movement licences and holdings • Also overseeing the summer calving of the suckler cow herd. • Tagging calves, dehorning and all related stock tasks . 2000-2010 Self employed contract shepherding on Exmoor and Wiltshire. • Lambing, shearing, dipping worming and other stock tasks. • Contract fencing, hedge laying and forestry work in winter months, working for the same farms and estates on a seasonal basis. • Owned my own small flock of sheep selling lambs to local Hotels 1999-2000 Employed by Exmoor National Park authority. • Maintaining rights of way, forestry and estate boundaries. • Tree felling, small to large • Erecting all types of stock fencing 1992-99 Self employed contract Shepherd on Exmoor and Wiltshire. • Lambing large flocks for the Guinness Family and F J Hayes and Sons for eight seasons. • During 1997 Shepherding on Fonthill Estate Wiltshire looking after 1,000 shearlings preparing for The Wilton Sheep Fair. • During winter months Fencing, Forestry and Hedge Laying. 1989-92 Working under my father looking after 150 suckler cows on Exmoor. • Doing all stock tasks making all winter forage and grass land management. • Tractor driving and machine maintenance. • Laying Hedges and fencing.


General interests include Rugby, horse racing, music and reading I enjoy Woodland crafts using traditional hand tools I get huge satisfaction training sheepdogs for myself and developing my partnership with them, and competing at local Sheepdog Trials when time allows
