Experience: April 2018-January 2019 – Dairy Manager, Berkshire – 270 Pedigree Friesian/Jersey herd on M & S Contract When I started the owners were aware the farm had issues but believed with the correct Team in place it was possible to turn it around. Unfortunately, now the full depth of the problems and full financial implications have been revealed the owners have decided that it is unsustainable to continue, and the herd has been dispersed. Main duties include: Milking and dairy hygiene Cow fertility, AI and calving Cow mobility, health & welfare, administering medication, foot trimming Routine young stock tasks Organising staff rotas (Team of 4), work duties, health & safety Working closely with  Vets, Agricultural Consultant, Sub-contractors & Estate Teams All paperwork including Movement Book and documentation for annual inspection by M & S, RSPCA & Red Tractor Assurance Computerised records using MMR & Interherd+ BCSM Passports Provide monthly costings Organising maintenance on routine machinery and milking parlour. Running repairs. Ordering feed, chemicals and sundries including veterinary supplies 2016-2018 – Herd Manager, Plaistow, West Sussex – 270 milking cows on Sainsbury Contract – Team of 5 staff The herd was dispersed by the Administrators following a failed planning appeal for the associated Biogas Unit. 2000-2016 – Herd Manager,  Markbeech, Kent - Organic herd 220 cows - OMSCO Sole responsibility for the day-to-day running of the organic dairy farm as the tenant farmer lived in Wales 1990 – 2000 – Head Herdsman, Markbeech, Kent – Non-Organic 265 cows 1982-1990 –  Farm Relief Providing a regular relief and holiday service for dairy farmers in Surrey, Kent & Sussex
