GENERAL FARM WORKER Within this job i have milked a herd of 500 cattle on a 40 point rotary parlour. my daily jobs were to send cattle into parlour, scrape out sheds and yard on a tractor, bed down the sheds also on a tractor. clean away any old feed and replace with fresh new feed, and water. once every four weeks we then had to weigh young stock and diss-budding of young stock. LAMBING I did lambing for 4 months in the lambing season this year and last, i did both night and day checks within two farms. Nights were going out and checking the ewes on both farms and the day consisted of putting ewes and lambs out once strong enough marking and tailng the lambs so they are identified in the fields. CALF REARING I worked on an organic dairy farm looking after the young stock, my responsibilitys included feeding all young milk and making sure new born calves had colostrum. Bedding down and cleaning pens. Making sure all older calves had clean water and feed. STABLE HANDLER I have been working on a stable yard for the past year at sarah allwoods huntington hall farm. Within this job i have handled many horses and youngsters. My daily jobs inculded turning the horses out in the summer months, and bringing back in. Mucking out the stables daily and feeding hard feed and hay twice a day. skills i used within these jobs; ·cummunication ·working within a team ·problem solving ·able to work on my own

Farming background

Since school I was working on the dairy farm on weekend and in the holidays. Then went on to do level 2 agriculture in college passed that and moved up to level 3 where I then got my diploma. I have always been on the farm and would love to continue with working on the farm. I’m always up for a challenge and want to learn more about the farming world. I’ve worked with sheep and feed also, which I enjoy. And recently started working with horses whitch is a challenge every day but a good one. WORK EXPERIENCE KIMMAL BAY MILITARY Within school we went on a weeks work experiance and i went to an army camp for a week, and this included physical and mental work thoughout the week. We camped outside for the week and had to live on ration packs. All we had on a sleeping bag and a waterproof sheet over the top tied on trees. Within the week we had to take part in activties such as assault courses. VOLUNTEERING When in school i took part in a volunteering group, within this group we went to animal rescue centres and helped out with dog walking, cleaning animals out also brightened up the streets by planting flowers. I also got in involved in the big dee day where we walked along the coastal paths picking up rubbish. We went litter picking on a regular basis.
