Poultry slaughter house - whitehead poultry stunner and various wet and dry plucking machines, including wax dipping for ducks and geese over 10 years experience. Demonstrator of combines, Claas lexion and Claas dominator up to 42ft header, and foragers Claas Jaguar for the last years. Cutting wheat, barley, oilseed rape, field beans, flax, rye grass and miscanthus. Tractor experience, Ford, New Holland, Massey Ferguson, John Deere and Kubota SHT most experience is with older machines, with fewer electronics, but I am willing to learn how to operate newer machines. Chainsaw experience felling small to large timber using a variety of machines including husquavarna and stihl saws and various wood chippers. Also familiar with a range of horticultural machinery including walk behind and ride on lawn mowers, brushcutters, hedge cutters, leaf blowers and garden fertiliser applicators.

Self employed worker with 45 years years experience within mixed livestock farming, working on a variety of different sized, dairy, beef, sheep, pig and poultry farms. Recently this has included a large dairy herd, an outdoor rare breed pig herd and a licenced slaughter man for a local duck company. Worked in a variety of parlours, from 3/6 abreast, various herring bones (5/10, 10/20), sequential bale (20/40), rapid release (20/40) and a 70 point internal rotary. With herd sizes ranging from 150 to 400 plus followers, both on extensive and semi-intensive production systems. All aspects of husbandry from grazing management, housing management (sand, straw and sawdust based cubicle and loose yard systems), dry cow and calving management and maintaining the health of the herd, diagnosing and treating common illnesses in conjunction with advise from the vets. I have worked in a number of beef enterprises from rose veal, intensive cereal bull beef and extensively grazed heifers and steers, managing their housing or grazing and ensuring the health and welfare of all animals. I have previous experience lambing sheep, however I have not been involved within sheep farming for the last 20 years. I currently work with an outdoor rare breed pig producer looking after their pigs on a rota basis covering farrowing through to fat pigs. Jobs include ensuring the housing is kept clean and fallowed between batches, helping sows with farrowing difficulties and monitoring the health of all pigs, treating those who are ill appropriately within veterinary guidance. I have 10 years experience managing free-range broiler and egg production systems maintaining animal husbandry and production levels to meet consumer demands, with 10 years as a FSA approved licenced poultry slaughterman, specialising in broilers, turkeys, geese and ducks.

Predominantly mixed livestock based with some arable experience, worked within the agricultural industry for over 45 years. Currently working with dairy and beef cattle, outdoor rare breed pigs and slaughtering ducks as well as demonstrating varying claas combines and foragers for a local branch of a multinational dealer.


I have a welsh cross border collie, which I enjoy taking for long walks, gardening and reading.
