BA and MA Archaeology. I am currently undertaking a mixed farming theory course with the horticultural correspondence college and have so far achieved consistently high marks.

Little experience but willing to learn whatever is required. I regularly work around 20+ ton 360 tracked excavators so I am used to being around big machines and understand the health and safety implications. I am currently learning to drive the JCB telehandler and New Holland T5 tractor. Whilst learning to drive the tractor I have been responsible for slurry spreading across the various pastures. I have also learnt to operate a New Holland skid steer and undertake scraping work every day.

I have a small amount of experience gained growing up mainly with goats and poultry. I am currently working with water buffalo. I have gained experience working with them on a twice a day milking system through a tandem parlour. I am happy to gain experience with any livestock as required as well as the more unusual such as deer, alpacas, llamas etc. I have a keen interest in working with rare breeds.

Whilst I don't have much experience I am hardworking, enthusiastic and willing to learn and turn my hand to whatever is required. Although I have recently moved into the industry I am taking every opportunity I can to learn and improve my skills. I am currently undertaking a mixed farming correspondence course (theory only) with the horticultural correspondence college and would be willing to attend any relevant practical training courses as required. I am used to working long days in all weathers and am happy to undertake overtime when required. Further references can be provided if required.

Farming background

Grew up on a small non-commercial family farm. I am used to being around livestock and have a some experience mucking out and disinfecting the living area (by hand) and hand milking goats. I have a healthy respect for livestock and understand what they can do and also believe that the animals should receive good standards of welfare. Currently working on a Farm doing both stock and yard work.

Hobbies

I enjoy art, crafts, reading and writing, walking my dog, fossil collecting, tending my fern and fruit gardens and learning the Japanese martial art of Bujinkan at the Reading dojo.
