Farming background

I spent my childhood helping out on Aunt & Uncle's sheep farm (8,000 sheep) in the Falklands. After leaving school I worked 4 years at the Falkland Islands Department of Agriculture. Here I assistaed with the setting up of the national beed herd and Stock flock, inluding livestock handling, fencing and tractor work. I also briefly assisted with the reindeer and goat diversification projects. Last year I worked as a Stud Manager on a 110 boar stud farm in Perthshire( Part-Time role). I am currently working as a Farm assistant on a 800 acre dairy farm, with 750 cows, (spring block calving) in Dumfries
