Farming background

Hello my name is James. I grew up on 8000acres in Munglinup, (120 kms west of Esperance) on the south coast of Western Australia. My father and his brother (both trained at the Royal Agricultural College and emigrated to WA to run their own operation) ran a continuous cropping program of wheat, barley and canola. They were at the forefront of the zero-till program which was a revolutionary idea imported from Brazil and adapted by Western Australians to meet the difficult growing conditions on the south coast of WA. I was very much involved with all the farming activities especially at harvest as this coincided with school holidays. Consequently, I grew to love agriculture and came to understand all the difficulties of operating equipment in difficult situations with the pressure of time. I am very much a practical person with a good knowledge of hands on skills, I am equipped with common sense and a drive to achieve only my best. I also understand working hard as I recently completed a harvest on a 15,000acre property where we worked around the clock 15 hours a day, 7 days a week for two months. My main role on the farm was chaser bin driving and operating the grain dryer. During that time, I met 2 young men from Suffolk, who were my work colleagues. I was so impressed with their work attitude and stories of England that it made me want to come to England and spend a season working there. I am currently studying a Diploma in Agriculture at Muresk College which finishes on 7th June 2018. The course is very interesting covering all aspects of agriculture. I thought to expand my studies by completing work in another country. Trusting you will look upon this application favourably.
