Within my 4 years in the farming industry, I have gained a large amount of knowledge on a range of equipment and machinery, gaining the experience on how to achieve the best results for the jobs I carry out. Throughout my day to day work I obtained experience with 120-300hp tractors, John Deere w540 combine with a 18ft header, grain carting, relief spraying, ploughing, muck spreading, mowing, tedding, raking, hedge cutting, cultivating and combining with CLASS Lexion 780 43ft combine. Meanwhile, I have obtained experience of different models of Telehandlers including Manitou, CLASS Scorpion and Merlo. Working with this range of machinery has helped me to develop my skills in this field which helps with the day to day jobs of farming. Along side operating machinery I also enjoy carrying out maintenance and servicing of the tractors and equipment.

Other livestock experience

Aldbourne Manor Farm, Wiltshire: Whilst completing my college years I was a part-time farm assistant on this mixed family farm however this changed to a Full Time role once I finished my courses. My role was to help with the livestock husbandry of 600 Scottish black face ewes and a small suckler herd, including tasks such as bedding, feeding, electric fencing, disbudding and castrating with rings. I also helped during the lambing season which I thoroughly enjoyed. Wonston Manor Farm, Hampshire: Throughout this Full-Time role I work alongside a team carrying out the day to day husbandry of 4000 store lambs which are based on different farms across the Hampshire/ Wiltshire countryside. I also worked with approximately 500 store cattle which were brought in as calf’s from local dairy farms and then followed through until finished. From my time here I've learnt that it’s important that the livestock should have the best welfare and environment to achieve the best products. Rooksnest Estate, Berkshire: Due to the nature of the farm the livestock aspect was smaller than what I've previously worked with. I assisted in taking care of 90 Pedigree Aberdeen Angus cows which followed a Semi Intensive System. This included feeding, bedding and general day to day husbandry.
