My farming career began as a child on the family hill and low land farm compromising of beef and sheep. I have obtained a number of NVQ’S in joinery and agricultural. Since the age of 16 I have done numerous lambing across the uk and Ireland on different systems and flock sizes. My experience in agriculture includes contract work farm advising and 5 years as a working farm manager on a farm in Scotland.My passion is in breeding stock and working dogs.   Employment , Farm contract work- self employed -2016 to current Lambing – the previous lambing season I spent in mid wales and the north of Scotland for 5 months. In wales I was hired as the night lamber for an indoor lambing 3000 sheep.from the 1ST of april I was taken as a head lamber on an outdoor and indoor flock of 5000 ewes were I hired 4 other lambing staff.   Shearing , I am a capable shearer shearing around 220 ewes a day.   Cattle   Calving was outside on a hill farm with inside pens in may and June for sales in November. General farm work, Including dressing hoggets for sales following animal health plans by drenching, blousing, dipping, gatheng hills, picking fat lambs, getting sheep ready for the tup, tb testing, bvd/tagging castrating and dehorning calves and general cattle work.   Farm advisor dunnet estates -2016/2017 Duties including culling out non productive animals and replacing with more profitable types,sorting paper work and creating a farm plan for the future and working with 5 other farm workers and office staff.   Working farm manager kinnelhead farms 2011/2016 8000 acre beef and sheep unit in south west Scotland. In the 5 years many improvements were made including : Raised lambing percent up buy 40% :reclaimed 80 acres of rough hill land : built new sheep and cattle handling facilities across 3 sites. : built new sheds all done by ourselves.   All farm records including Animals records and movements control of money and bills. Book keeping for inspections. good I.T skills.   : management of grassland ph levels to acids.   Areas of expertise, : reliable- im an honest and capable person who is able to work on my own initiative. : practical very hands on and used with long hard hours to get the job done. : team player experienced with working as part of a team at stressful times to complete a task. Also able to take control when needed to resolve any issues.   : team leader worked along with up to 12 other people.   : confidant spent my life around people and animals therefore confident in handling and with needs of people and animals.   : buying and selling of livestock from replacement gimmers to tups cows bulls fat lambs store lambs feeding cows feeding ewes.   : Animal husbandry up to date with modern diseases and mediaines. Seen and resolved many health issues in the past.   : Working sheepdogs currently working 4 border collies dogs who have proven to be capable farm dogs.   :Driving Clean driving license trailer and tractor license. Experienced in operating farm machinery.
