I personally funded my BASIS qualification and used a years annual leave to enable me to undertake the training with no support from my current employer. I won the Colchester & Thorpe under 700acre farm competition 2015 going on to come 2nd in the Essex Agricultural Society Competion also winning the Conservation award, Best field of Wheat and Best crop of Peas. This has been done with no cooperation or support from my employer. In 2017 I again won the Colchester & Thorpe Best Farm and in 2018 I came 3rd in the local Best Farm competition.

Farming background

33 years farming experience. Strutt & Parker Farms Ltd, Farm Foreman on 2500acres - arable and dairy youngstock. Forestry Commission, Wildlife Ranger on 12000acres  Farm, Cambridgeshire, Farm Foreman on 1100acres - arable and beef suckler. Currently working as a Working Farm Manager for a company in Colchester, Essex, single handed on 350acres all major decisions undertaken including cropping, rotation, fertiliser and chemical inputs, record keeping, crop assurance schemes, ELS and HLS management. Field walking with and without agronomist and making own recommendations when needed.
