After studying livestock and development at Greenmount agricultural college, I moved to Scotland to contract shepherd alongside my brother as well as running a 12,000 acre hill estate. Whilst contracting shepherding I have been involved with key periods of the sheep farming calendar including lambing, shearing alongside other general duties (worming, vaccinating, dipping etc) as part of a team but also in sole charge. I have worked in New Zealand on large beef and sheep enterprises during the lambing and calving times. I have also carried out a number of shearing seasons. Recent employment I have been involved with starting a suckler herd, sheep flock and beef unit in North Yorkshire and nurtured the interest of the boss’s son within agriculture.

Grew up on a hill beef and sheep farm Numerous jobs in Scotland, also did large amounts of contract shepherd work in this time Running of a 12000acre hill farm as a member of a team Numerous seasons in New Zealand - clipping, lambing, calving.  Recent employment in North Yorkshire setting up a suckler herd, sheep flock and fattening unit


Interests include sheep dog trials, showing of livestock – mainly sheep. I also take an avid interest in following the breeding lines of stock. I also like to be able to compete at agricultural shows (UK and Ireland) in the shearing classes.
