PENN ESTATES JOB ROLE (150 Dairy Cows, 500 hectares arable). During the nine years I worked on Penn Estate my experience and knowledge grew considerably, leading to an increase in responsibility over all aspects of the farm. I had considerable input over the Dairy/livestock enterprise all year round. This included relief milking, record keeping, heat detection, monitoring calving periods, feeding, calf rearing and all other aspects of animal health and husbandIncluding ploughing, fertilizing, spraying etc.ry. There were also periods of significant duration where I temporarily held the main herdsman position. In addition to my work on the dairy a large proportion of my time was spent on the arable unit carrying out a range of arable operations, as I am proficient in all duties.  CURRENT POSITION- A FARM (100 suckler cows, 600 hectare arable, poultry unit, anaerobic digester) ⦁ currently undertake the day to day management of a 100 (raising to 120) head Stabiliser suckler herd, I have been heavily involved in the improvement of the herds management, performance and profitability over the last few years. Experienced in embryo transfer and consequent selling of breeding stock. PERSONAL QUALITIES I am now very keen to take my varied arable and livestock experience into another challenging role. I have a proven track record as being organized and accomplished in practical and administrative aspects of farming. I naturally apply myself to the job in hand and I am able to manage and facilitate multiple tasks simultaneously. I am more than comfortable to use my own initiative and to be left on my own without constant monitoring. I also enjoy the responsibility of leading a team, as I have done when we have had work experience students. I am now looking for a new challenge that I can dedicate the next ten or more years to! Having come from a farming family I have inherited a hard working and practical attitude, with excellent attention to detail. I have been dedicated to farming all my working life and my enthusiasm has never waned in all those years. I have always proven to be a reliable and conscientious worker and have the ability to work as well in a team as on my own. I believe that now is the time to move into a full management role and to take full responsibility for a multi enterprise farm.
