Along with contract shepherding on various farms, from the hardest of hill farms in the Lake District to having lambing contracts for 1000 white faced ewes indoors, I also run 400 Herdwick and Crossbred ewes, 15 Dexter cattle and 10 Tamworth pigs at my parents farm in Matterdale, with all produce from the farm going deadweight to high-end customers into predominantly the London market.
I have the necessary stocksmanship and machinery experience needed to help establish a growing sheep flock and herd of native breed cattle, and would relish the opportunity to do so in an estate very local to me.

2015-Present: Self Employed Shepherd & General Farm Worker.
As well as running the management of livestock on the family farm I currently work part time as a shepherd and general farm worker at High Snab Farm in the Newlands Valley, assisting in the management of the Herdwick and Swaledale flocks, and also maintaining the dry stone walls and fences. In the summer months I have my own shearing trailer, clipping 150-200 ewes a day. In the winter and odd jobs in the summer I carry out dry stone walling work such as wall gapping on neighbouring farms, as well as the occasional retaining wall job on gardens and houses. I have a small machinery contracting business as well, spreading muck/mucking out sheds and topping/spraying rushes being the bulk of this work.
