Worked on 500 acre mixed livestock and arable farms June 2017-May 2018. Carried out grain carting, baling, mixer wagon driving and feeding to cattle/sheep. Also operating a straw bedder. Capable of loading a livestock trailer of cattle / sheep and driving to the market. Competent tractor driver. Ticket for Forklift.

Worked at home on cattle and sheep family farm lambing 1000 hill sheep myself. Competent to deal with all lambing situations solely, e.g. catching and lambing a sheep, skinning a lamb and twinning on. Marking lambs and administering all types of medicine if required. Capable of sorting feet, clipping and tagging ewes and lambs. Also milking our dairy cows in a Dairymaster 10/10 Swingover Parlour. Own dairy was put off in 2016. Confident working with suckler cows, involving assisting at calving, helping calves to get first drink of colostrum (when required) tagging calves, clipping cattle and medicine administration when required. Currently farm a small herd of Beef Shorthorn suckler cattle and flock of Cheviot ewes.

Farming background

April - May 2017 - Hill shepherd for 2 months. Total responsibility for flock of 1,200 blackface ewes. June 2017 - May 2018 - GFW on mixed livestock and arable farm. Carting grain, bailing, fencing, assisting with the lambing and clipping cattle for the market. June 2018 - Current - various livestock odd day jobs for local farms. Managing own small beef and sheep herds. Clipping our calves for suckled calf sale. Fencing jobs. Dug out holes for posts for a cattle handling system in a shed. Cemented all posts in and fitted together the handling system.
