Farming background

I am 21 years old, Have worked on the family farm in Eardisland since leaving school at 18. I then managed one of our poultry sites, whilst working with all arable tasks on our small 200 acre farm. April 2017- I was employed in the USA, a member of a harvest crew based in Nebraska. on arriving in the States the first things i had to do was take my USA car licence swiftly followed up by my truck licence, the States do not recognise our driving certificates The crew had 4 S680 combines. 3 9360R's with Chaser Bins and 6 Volvo lorry's. I was responsible for one of the combines, I was the sole operator and I carried out all daily checks and regular maintenance of the machine. Main crops in the summer were wheat and rape cut with 40 ft Draper header. We started in Texas and worked our way up to the Canadian border stopping in every state in between. During Fall we cut mainly maize and soya beans, only running two combines and I was selected to be one of the operators. We used Greenstar about 50% of the time so I have good experience with running Greenstar and the operating system. When moving between jobs I drove one of the 13 speed Volvo lorry's generally hauling the tractor and chaser bin, also when we weren't harvesting I regularly hauled soya beans and corn, on the road. The Job also included a lot of time in the workshop, everything from completely stripping and rebuilding a header to smaller maintenance jobs. We were a crew of ten of us so I am used to working and living with many people. I took a pride in looking after my machine and maintaining it. I work well in a team but also I can be left alone to get on with a job. If I don't know how to do something, I will say so and once I am shown I will pick it up quickly. I have no issue working long hours and will always put my full effort into a job. I am now looking for a new challenge either near near my Herefordshire home or travelling away, if not local I would need to find accommodation it would be useful if it was part of the job.

Rugby at weekends.
