20 year enthusiastic shepherd, from a family farm in dartmoor running 400 ewes to the common, have basic management skills including gathering sheep, and Day to day tasks (including shearing) I have 2 dogs fully trained and a pup rising up through, I’m very keen and enthusiastic for work, and thrive with the chance of management, I enjoy working with scotch blackface sheep as we run these at home on the farm, and would like to see there versatility in other situations.

Working for a farmer/conractor baling, wrapping, raking, staking and small amounts of mowing, Driving a john deere 6330 for loading bales with 24ft bale trailer, wrapping with a Renault 75-34 and McHale 991 high speed, Baling with a Valtra T121 and McHale F5500. Have experience in harrowing, rolling and basic field operations, can use a pasture topper and grassland machinery to get maximum output of ground possible. Done a small amount of Arable work with a John Deere 955 combine with a 10FT header.

Shepherd for a small flock of 180 managing and carrying out all of there lambing this year, on an outdoor system, also lambing 800 sheep on an indoor system being left in charge of after birth care, making sure all lambs are tailed lambed and marked correctly before leaving the shed, Working in Tavistock livestock market for past 2 years, back penning, Gathering sheep and cattle for different people with my dogs. Shearing learnt to shear last year and took place shearing for the 800 ewe flock shearing.

Farming background

Plenty of experience with sheep, did first contract lambing this year on 180 ewes on an outdoor system, have one dog and possibly a second, can drive a tractor baling, wrapping, raking and stacking bales. Large experience and more interested in sheep but have experience with handling cattle.
