I have a hoof trimming qualification from embryonics, as i undertook a 2 day herdsman hoof trimming course on a dairy farm in oxfordshire, where I practiced preventative trimming an also treatment of potential diseases, including applying blocks and bandages. Rough terrain forklift certificate and a car+trailer license. Cscs registered and hold an NPORS tractor ticket.

Other livestock experience2 years lambing assisting with birthing, including fostering lambs to other ewes, moving and loading stock, feeding, and general caring for stock. I was also responsible for tagging and vaccinating lambs along with hoof trimming ewes before they were put out to paddocks. 1 year milking 1100 cows through 50 bail rotary in NZ, checking for mastitis and general herd health (including treating issues found) as well as assisting with foot trimming. In this time i was also using Electric fence, to set up temporary feed breaks for the cattle and moving the irrigation systems. I have 2 years pig work assisting with weaning, feeding and general farm duties associated with pigs, along with being in charge of the health of the piglets from weaning to 12 weeks old. I am responsible for All the food fed to the fattener pigs on the 400 sow unit. Which invloves allocating food to bins, in the correct quantities, followed by blowing into bins with a tractor and blower trailer. Experience working with beef cattle for 2 years alongside the pigs at my current location. This involves assisting with calving tagging, weighing, moving and drenching using handling systems.

Other InformationDuring my time on Nz, I received a certificate from fonterra as our Milk quality was consistently high throughout the season, this was thanks to our constant checking and monitoring of herd health. I have passed my forklift certificate, and also my car + trailer test. I would be willing to take any other courses that are required. I am a quick learner and enjoy working, so long hours aren't an issue. I Am interested in furthering my current dairying skills and knowledge as it is a field that really interests me, and stock work is something i am very passionate about. Competenet at most general farm tasks and always wanting to further my knowledge as it is an industry i am keen to progress in, in the future.

Farming background2 years lambing on 3 different farms from february to april, the largest being 600 mules lambing over a 2 week period. Along with, helping out at the family farm, during busy lambing periods, in my spar time. Harvest experience, currently working on a farm which contract farms 3000 acres of rape, wheat and barley. Where i am responsible for nearly All cultivations, using a 380Hp tractor along with a vaderstad topdown and carrier. Other duties such as lorry loading, bale cart/stacking, corn cart and slurry spreading. I have worked on 400 sow outdoor farrowing unit, for 2 years now, which finishes all its own progeny. I have worked for 1 year, dairy farming 1100 cows through 50 bale rotary in New Zealand, where I was responsible for milking all cows, single handed, at least once a day, along with monitoring herd health, irrigation, and some paddock allocation. In my spare weekends away from the farm, i do also work behind a bar at a wedding venue. Its nice to see some peoples faces, instead of piglets every now and again.
HobbiesI play rugby for my local club when possible, and am a very active member of buckingham young farmers club.
