Farming background

Farmer's son, worked on family farm for 1 year after leaving school then to Askham Bryan collage 1996-1998 to study GNVQ Advanced agri engineering same as NDAE.  Worked on placement in Marstone grantham maintenance of carrot plant then cereal harvest onto carrot harvest before returning back to collage to complete course passing with a merit. on leaving collage worked in Lincolnshire near sleaford performing all arable duties up until the autumn. I was then offered a job for a massey ferguson dealer in Skipton where I worked for a short period of time. Spring 1999 a company in Morton Retford for potato planting where I planted 400 acre potatoes then onto parsnips and carrots. July 1999 moved to Womersley near knottingley maintenance and running grain store, weigh bridge and dryer. autumn cultivation's onto drilling 1000 acre until end of drilling. Moved to small dairy unit near holmefirth huddersfield duties were milking twice daily feeding calves mucking out spreading muck daily feeding and bedding all stock. Spring 2000 returned back to family farm to work with father and uncles and brother. On a mixed farm comprising of about 100 dairy cows a beef unit 100 sheep and arable in south and west Yorkshire. 2002 we successfully tendered for a larger farm at Wentworth Rotherham 460 acres were we grew the herd to over 200 dairy also growing over 300 acres of arable crops including wheat, barley, osr, beans and forage maize my duties have been milking TMR feeding slurry handling ,Grassland preparation and all aspects of silage making fert spreading , spraying drilling, ploughing, rolling, combining, baling, grain carting and storage and grain sales and all day to day running . Over last few years also worked on potatoes around bawtry area at planting and harvest. Also spending time with silage contractor may till mid july the last two years up January 2017 self employed working on a number of arable farms working with kit such as challenger 36m sprayer Combine driver on chatsworth arable farm Mansfield summer 2016 1700 acres Jan 2017 to dec 2017 sprayer /challenger 765c/ combine driver in Howden east Yorkshire performing all key tasks. Currently self employed working in South Yorkshire and lincolnshire.
