My experience with general farm equipment is now a bit dated. Most of my farmwork was done on a 600 acre farm. I did most of the heavy cultivation for 4 years such as Ploughing and Subsoiling using Ford County and John Deere 7 series. Most of the general farmwork tasks were done using tractors in the 80hp range. In the last 5 years I have been driving tractors and 360 diggers on building and development sites. The tractors were John Deere, Claas, New Holland, McCormick mostly in the 150 to 200hp range. The diggers were ranged in size from 3 tons to 38 tons.

Other livestock experience

My experience with livestock was in the 1970's. I carried out most routine tasks concerning sheep farming i.e. foot trimming, drenching inoculation, dagging, shearing, treating for fly strike. I did work with beef cattle doing the basic routine tasks of feeding, mucking out, vaccination and dehorning. Whilst I do not consider myself to be a stockman I do believe I have some animal sense when working with livestock.

Farming background

The recent agricultural work that I have done relevant to the position applied for was a period with a contractor muck spreading. More recently I have spent most of the last 5 years driving tractors and diggers on construction sites. The tractor work was mostly water bowser work for dust suppression through the summer months. When not driving tractors I have been driving 360 diggers. The tractors I have driven have been John Deere, Claas, New Holland and McCormick in the 150 to 200hp range. Most of my work in agriculture was some time ago but I would welcome the opportunity to update my knowledge of more current machinery and techniques.

Shooting I have also worked as a volunteer for conservation bodies such as the National Trust, RSPB and Kent Wildlife Trust. This included tasks such as fencing, coppicing, footpath clearance, tree felling, wall building and repair.
