Farming background

Currently Assistant Manager on a 1200 head beef calf unit rearing calves from 2 weeks old and taking them up to 16 weeks for M&S. Worked Previously for 3 years rearing upto 400 calves from 2-3 weeks old. Also looking after and calving 100 suckler cows. Vaccinating/ de-budding and castrating all calves and treating for any illness. Ordering milk powder and calf nuts and any drugs needed. Mucking out/bedding up with Teleporter. Tractor and trailor work. Leading straw/hay and silage. Feeding with Keenan and Pace. Assisting vet with any C- sections needed. Also looking after and lambing a small flock of sheep.Maintenance of machinery and farm buildings. Previous 5 years as assistant manager/herdsman on organic goat dairy farm milking 250 animals twice daily, also taking care of a further 80 goat's for replacement stock and a further 100 for meat production. Total management of the farm when the manager is off or on holidays.Teaching and being responsible for students and woofers.I have also worked part time work in the cheese house for the last three years were I have learnt to make, mould and process many different types of goat's cheese for which we have won several awards.Have also done relief milking with cows on a family members farm.Before farming I worked for myself in the building trade as a tiler/carpenter.
