Other Information

I’m aware my CV is somewhat varied, however having had an eye opening experience in intensive farming, I feel the time is right for me to move back into full time livestock work, particularly shepherding. Throughout my other jobs I have remained passionate about the sheep industry, as shown through my continued night lambing whilst still working full time elsewhere.

Farming background

After just over a year in the poultry industry, and having experienced intensive production, I decided it was time to pursue other opportunities. This has resulted in me getting back to what I really enjoy; working with grass based livestock. I have had sole responsibility for the night lambing of 900 ewes, alongside providing assistance with all aspects of their husbandry. I have also erected permanent and temporary (electric) livestock fencing, been involved with EID recording and record keeping, and multiple other tasks associated with modern livestock farming.

Worked  on a 1300 head flock of both indoor and outdoor lambing ewes, This included a small pedigree flock.Extensive experience was gained in every aspect of husbandry from lambing through to slaughter, including the selection of lambs for slaughter, worming, lameness treatment and crutching, and the design and use of new livestock handling areas.
