Farming background

Previous experience with machinery goes back to the first contractor I worked for, whilst in university, as a two rotor rake driver. Not sure how many hundreds of acres I did over two silage season, but moved on to a different contractor to gain more experience. The second contractor is a large round and square baling contractor. Sending out 6 square balers and 2 rounds during busy harvest season. I started my first year on the corn carting with large 14 tonne trailers, harvesting over a 1000 acres. Then my second year, I began on a round baler before getting upgraded to square baler. And have done 5 years of harvest square baling. Also whilst working there, I have done a lot of cultivation that includes over 100 acres of ploughing a year, and harrowing and so on. Which brings us on to potato harvest, where I usually sit on a trailer or in the grading store. Because this is a seasonal job, I found myself another contractor to work for as well. This time during the silage, where the work I covered was carting silage, 4 rotor rake, mowing with front and back, buckraking with front push off and best of all, running 3 Claas foragers chopping around 10,000 acres of forage a year/ This is where I learned to operate one. During winter, I have travelled to New Zealand to operate a square baler, baling around 26,000 bales in my first year, and 20,000 bales the second year. Then on to my first stint in Australia, where I was working on a 28,000 acre farm, operating a 550hp case quadtrack doing the cultivation. Then my second stint in Australia, I was appointed head forager driver for a contractor with a fleet of fendts. This is where I clocked up the acres on the chopper.
