Farming background

My extended family all farm, however I am interested in livestock, meaning I have had to go it alone! I am now looking for a role which is progressive, for a long term challenge. I am a passionate stockperson, in particular cattle and calves. Having done a lot of calf rearing during university on placement and being a youngstock manager after finishing university in 2014. I have reared calves at home for myself. I worked at a farm vets from Dec 2014-Dec2015, where i learnt a huge amount about the health of livestock and many of the medicines and procedures that vets carry out. I then became self employed doing a whole range of different things, from calving cattle and lambing, making decisions on behalf of the farmer, feeding, paperwork, farm sitting, milking, calf rearing, game bird rearing, livestock handling. I went back to university in Sept 2016 to complete my degree in Agricultural Management and when I finished that I was offered the deadweight administrator position at my local livestock market; this gave me a huge insight into the marketing and selling of stock to abattoirs. Although i enjoyed learning about this side of the industry, working full time in an office just wasn't for me. So in June I went back to self emlpoyment with the decision to find a permenant, full time position in the Autumn. I am very organised, and am good at record keeping.

Hobbies

Horse Riding, Young Farmers, Clay and Game shooting, walking.
