Farming background

I come from a farming back ground and understand the modern methods of farming in the UK. I have worked on large hill farm in the Scottish Borders and the West coast of Scotland. I also have my own working dogs. Work Experience Arable Operator Duties included operating self-propelled sprayer, fertilizing with fertilizer spinner and all other general farm work. I also help run a flock of 250 North Country Mules farmed on an intensive scale including early lambing over the Christmas period with a two week lambing period due to sponging. During the summer months I worked long hours anywhere from 80 - 110+ hours a week. Worked on an Estate as Head shepherd, Duties were to look after 600 ewe lambs and lamb 150 Theaves to produce top quality breeding stock for the south of England. Also Estate Maintenance, fencing and forest clearing. Shepherd on the borders of Scotland working with 1000 Scott’s mules and 1000 Blackface and 200 head of cattle. My Duties include vaccinating Ewes & lambs, keeping on top of feet problems, gathering sheep from the Hill. Drawing Lambs for market. and general stockman ship.Head shepherd/sole at Ladykrik estate working 1000 easy care and 500 chiviots across 550 acres with a mobile rapper handing systems.
