Stockperson & Relief Milker job on a mixed farm - Dorset
Arable, Dairy, Beef
UK
DT2
South West
Description

For the first time in a number of years, we are excited to recruit a new stockperson and relief milker to our small but close-knit team, for our mixed dairy, beef and arable farm.

Our 120 pedigree cows are looking for a skilled and reliable relief milker who will maintain our high standards of stock care and milk production and be responsible for calf rearing. The majority of calves are born between July and September with a few born outside that window, up to mid-December. All stock is reared on the farm such as dairy replacements, and all beef calves are finished over a 2-year period on our extensive system.

This role will also include other jobs associated with a mixed livestock farm, such as fencing, as well as a certain level of tractor driving at busier points in the year - for example bale carting and raking grass. You would be expected to milk for 2-3 days every fortnight. Longer periods will be required when the herdsman is away, but this would be split between you and the wider team.

It would be preferable if you had a PA1 and PA6 certificate, but training can be provided for the right applicant.
