Stockperson/General Farm Worker job - West Sussex

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced stock person and general farm worker to join our team on a busy mixed farm in West Sussex. The role will include all aspects of animal husbandry and running the day to day livestock activity with the opportunity to be involved in arable work if desired.

The role can be full time or part time

Dairy calves are bought from 2 weeks of age and reared on an automatic feeder until weaning where they are then transitioned onto a TMR ration until finished.

Duties and responsibilities will include:

-General husbandry feeding, bedding and handling; daily cattle checks vaccination and worming etc., and tasks relating to young calves and beef cattle

-Tractor driving including but not limited to silage work, crop establishment, harvesting and manure spreading

-General machinery and farm maintenance duties would also be included.

Telehandler certificate required

TMR experience would be an advantage although training can be provided.

A full driving license is required.

A CV and recent references will be required.

Hours: 40 hours / week including every other weekend (or as agreed) would also consider a part-time position with hours to be discussed/agreed

Start: Immediate start available

Pay: Competitive salary and pension, dependent on experience and qualifications

Benefits: Regular time off; support to undertake further training such as chainsaw course, PA1 + 2

You must have a good understanding and practical knowledge of all aspects of cattle care and management along with the drive and enthusiasm to continue the excellent level of herd welfare and general husbandry currently upheld on the farm. It is essential to be an honest and motivated individual and to be able to work well on your own as well as part of a team. You should have great attention to detail and a can do attitude. Job can start as soon as possible.
