Senior Pig Stockperson for a farm in Cornwall (EX23)

Our family farming business has been established for 100 years. We have a 400-sow indoor farrow-to-finish unit. Our pigs are kept on slats and then straw-based. We also farm beef, sheep and arable. All arable goes to feeding our stock. The farm has a mobile mill mix system.

Job description:

• Ensure that the five freedoms concerning animal welfare are upheld


• Uphold the biosecurity and security of the unit


• Caring for pigs, including the cleaning, feeding, movement, weighing, and medication of pigs

Person specifications:

• Must be able to work on own initiative


• Must have a good understanding of how the overall pig unit works day-to-day


• Must have a driving license


• Must have 2 years + pig breeding farm experience with sow management, AI, pregnancy scanning and farrowing expertise

Salary: £30,000 (doe)

Hours:

• Full-time, permanent


• 7 am - 4 pm during the week, with early starts of 5.30 am - 6 pm on days pigs are going


• Working 1 weekend in 4 (flexible)
