Contract is for Permanent Hours
We are afamily Partnership, located in the Wiltshire countryside close to the amenities of Salisbury. The farm is progressive and is a highly invested farm business committed to the future of dairy farming. We are a business that believes in a team approach. We retain 2-3% of our milk on farm to sell through our two milk vending machines.
We milk 800 crossbred cows through a 70-point Milfos rotary twice a day, operating two tight calving blocks, in the autumn and spring.
Were looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Senior Herdsperson to lead and develop our dairy team of four people, as well as working closely on a daily basis with the owners of the business allowing involvement in our future strategy.
You will be working directly with the herd and involved in all aspects of the day to day running of the dairy, including maintaining herd health and welfare standards and computerised record keeping.
We operate a grazing-based system and you will be responsible in the making of day to day grazing management decisions. Our long grazing season is achieved from good infrastructure and effective grassland management.
An excellent package, training when required and an attractive centrally heated 3-bedroom house with a large garden (within 0.5 miles of the dairy), located in the rural village of Nunton. There is a thriving local community with great local schools, good transport links, and a few friendly pubs.
