Description

About the Farm

We are a 90Ha farm in Buckinghamshire. At present, we have 25 breeding Longhorn cows and their followers and about 100 ewes plus followers. We are in a mid-tier stewardship agreement and the farm is a mixture of permanent pasture, wildflower meadows and herbal leys. There is also a young orchard of about 200 apples and pears, a new wetland site and various areas of woodland and scrub.

We are farming with nature and nutritious food production in mind. We are certified with Pasture for Life and the Soil Association, so all our livestock are pure pasture-fed and are managed organically. Some meat sales are direct from the farm and we also sell breeding stock of our pedigree-registered Longhorn cattle and traditional sheep.

We are hoping to enter a Biodiversity Net Gain scheme and we will be managing certain areas of the farm to increase biodiversity within this framework.

The ambition is to showcase what can be achieved on a small-scale farm with sustainable practices. We are open to other enterprises springing up on the farm but the backbone of what we are seeking to do is regeneration of the soil through properly-managed regenerative (mob) grazing and the use of composts and extracts to boost the soil life. We are also committed to promoting biodiversity on the farm through diverse planting and management of trees, hedges and other plants.

  • Managing any longer term or temporary employees on the farm to carry out specific activities

  • Organising contracted works like fencing, reseeding or baling

  • Working with the owner to support the overall aims of the farm
