Permanent General Farm Worker job & Harvest staff jobs - East Sussex

Description

We are a medium size farm growing 1200 acres of combinable crops and lambing 900 ewes, we are also building a small community farm, beginning to retail our produce and expanding our equine business.

We are looking for one permanent member of staff and one harvest assistant who can turn their hand to all aspects of this varied business. The role will include helping with any of the farm jobs as they arise.

We expect harvest to start in the last week of July through until mid September, so we are looking for someone to assist at this busy time, mainly carting grain and straw as well as running the grain dryer if required.

The permanent position of general farm worker is available immediately. We are looking for someone self motivated who is happy to tackle all aspects of our business, working on the main farm with harvest and lambing (outdoors) as well as the winter fencing.

This would go alongside the care for our horticultural crops on the community farm, sometimes alongside our volunteers, but often alone. Other duties may include the care of the pigs, sheep and chickens already on the farm, along with any proposed expansion.

Further as this is a fledgling project, so we are still building the infrastructure including laying water and irrigation, fencing, building poultry houses, stables and pig penning, so some fabrication abilities would help but are not essential; a willing imagination and ability to learn are essential

Both roles require a full driving licence as we work both on the home farm and other sites.

Accommodation is available for both roles.  Job can start as soon as possible.
