We are looking for people to milk our herd of 900 cows and carry out yard work. We are dedicated to looking after our cows with the highest standards of animal welfare and ensuring our milk is of the highest quality.
You will need to be motivated, honest, enjoy physical work and be good at working as part of a team. A calm, quiet and conscientious demeaner is required when working with cows. Experience working with livestock is preferential although not essential as full training will be provided.
You will be required to work on a rota of 6 days on, two days off, 6 nights on, 2 days off. The shifts consist of 9 hours, with breaks.
•Day shift, 5am-11am and 1.00pm-4pm
•Night shift, 4pm-7pm and 9.00pm-3.00am
Your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Follow all correct procedures and safety protocols shown in the induction.
•Prepare equipment and storage areas for milking.
•Bring in cows for milking including assisting other employees if requested.
•Milk all cows in an orderly, proper and consistent manner.
•Keep the milk from treated cows separated from the untreated herd.
•Inform the supervisor of cows that may have mastitis or other problems.
•Treatment of the cows as advised by the supervisor.
•Clean the milking parlour, holding area and milk storage area ensuring all machinery and sanitation procedures are followed according to manufacturers specification.
Mobile home or shared accommodation may be available.
Part time may be considered if regular shifts can be agreed.
