We have two fantastic opportunity's within our small team for enthusiastic people looking to develop their technical and mechanical skills./ Calf rearing and youngstock role

The successful candidate's will be reliable and show the capability and enthusiasm to learn all aspects of running a large high yielding dairy farm and embrace the technology used.

Our herd consists of 420 milking cows and 250 youngstock. We have a high herd health status, feed a TMR and are currently producing over 13,000 kg per cow. We have invested heavily in infrastructure, robotics and equipment to get the very best from our herd.

Responsibilities:

Mechanically minded job:


  • Day to day routine jobs

  • Maintain and service farm machinery

  • Maintain and repair farm building equipment

  • Basic maintenance on robotic milkers (training will be given)

Compliance: Adhere to Health and Safety and Animal Welfare regs. including cross compliance requirements

Training: Attend training as and when required

Youngstock Manager job:


  • Care and co-ordination on a day to day basis of rearing calves from birth through to maturity

  • Calf movement and recording

  • Weekly provision of status reports on calf health and growth performance

  • Take a key role in managing the health of the youngstock including establishing a proactive health programme through liaison with the vet.

  • Implementation & monitoring of diets with farm nutritionalist

  • Help with other routine farm jobs such as scraping out cleaning robotics

  • Compliance with health and safety and animal welfare regulations.

Candidate requirements:


  • Good stockpersonship skills

  • General maintenance skills

  • Good communication skills

  • Competent tractor driver

  • Computer literate

  • Full driving licence

The successful candidate's must be willing to do a rota on evening checks and any alarms the robotics may have.

The farm is close to four lovely market towns in Northallerton, Richmond Yarm and Darlington. It is situated within 1 mile of two villages with schools and village pubs (one has a thriving young farmers club). The farm is on a bus route to access the towns.
