Junior/Trainee Assistant Herdsperson job on 340 cow Dairy Farm - Wiltshire

A position has become available following the decision of our current junior employee to leave, in order to gain tractor driving experience on a large arable farm. He has just completed a 3 year apprenticeship obtaining a level 3 in Agriculture through Lackham College and now wishes to gain experience in the arable sector.

Junior/Trainee assistant Herdsperson now required. Modern progressive dairy unit with high standards of welfare, 340 pederee cows, all year round calving, closed herd, 9500 lts sold/cow. Wiltshire. 1100 acre mixed family farm, home bred replacements and some beef, very tidy farm with good working environment.

This role would suit someone that is keen, hard working with good attention to detail and can work as part of a small friendly team. Previous milking, livestock and tractor driving experience would be advantageous and further training will be given.

If an applicant wanted to combine the role with attaining formal qualifications at college, we would be happy to consider an apprenticeship scheme with a local college once again.

Applicants needs to be a good communicator and be able to work as part of a team. Be calm and considerate towards livestock.
