An opportunity has risen for a Herdsperson to join our team on our dairy farm in North Devon. The farm currently has 360 cows, milked twice a day and calved in an Autumn block. We have a 9000 Litre average crossbred herd consisting of Holstein x Norwegian Red x Fleckvieh. The cows are cubicle housed on deep sand and TMR fed. We use a combination of grazing and zero grazing through the summer months. Roles to include: MILKING in a 20:40 DeLaval herringbone parlour alongside a full time milker with ADF system and auto ident. Record Keeping for all medication administered and any treatments given. GENERAL LIVESTOCK DUTIES: Foot trimming, heat detection, calving cows and involvement in routine Herd vaccinations, Vet and AI visits. The successful candidate will also be required to Maintain and regularly clean the Dairy Plant. They will be required to do some scraping up at certain times. We require someone who is conscientious, energetic and enthusiastic, reliable, punctual, clean and honest. You must be able to work well in a team as well as having the ability to work independently. Excellent attention to detail is essential in order to maintain the high standards of animal welfare and hygiene which we insist on and which helped up to achieve the Devon Dairy Farmer of the year award. Training can be offered to further knowledge, if required, but previous experience of this role is essential. Salary will be dependent on skills, knowledge and experience.
