We are looking for a head herdsperson/unit manager to join the team here at our dairy in beautiful North Cornwall.
We require someone to take day to day responsibility for 400 cows managed on a grass based grazing system.
The bulk of the cows calve in the 12 weeks August to October, with a small spring group calving over 6 weeks in March and April. During the winter they are housed on deep sand cubicles and milked through a 20/40 herringbone parlour. You will have an assistant that normally does the afternoon milkings and the yard work.
Youll be joining a bigger team as the business has 2 dairys both with 400 cows.
Being so close to the sea and on free draining soils, we aim to turn out in late February or early March, and some cows can stay out till Christmas.
This position comes with a competitive salary (experience dependent) workplace pension, regular time off, a detached 3 bedroom bungalow with private garden, good holiday entitlement, and all the benefits of living and working so close coast.
The local area is well served with 3 close primary schools, 2 secondary schools, local shops 5 minutes drive and all major supermarkets 15 minutes away.
The south west coast path crosses the farm and the popular beaches of Polzeath and Trebarwith are also 15 minutes away.
