300 head summer-block herd, looking for a Herdsperson to join our diverse team on a progressive, family-run, mixed farm in South Lincolnshire

Following a restructure we are looking for a keen herdsperson to join our growing team!

£25-£35K dependent on experience. Package includes family house with garden and double glazing, council bills paid. Regular time off and pension scheme. Good local primary and secondary schools in the area with a bus stop in the village for the secondary schools. 3.5 days off in a fortnight including a 2.5 day weekend every other weekend. We strive for a work life balance and take pride in being able to work as a team to so that, for example, if school drop-offs are needed or you wish to attend rugby training on a certain week night we can do our best to cater to those requirements.

We are a progressive mixed dairy and arable farm, milking 300 Holsteins, calving June-November and tightening the block each year. Currently investing in a new 260 bed cubicle shed being built this winter. We have a large focus on cow health and welfare and cleanliness on farm. With a large arable operation as well we run a range of modern machinery, mainly John Deere tractors, feeding TMR from largely home-grown produce, driving our excellent Fats and Proteins. We run a 2 person milking team in a 24/48 herringbone parlour with ACR, ADF, teat scrubbers, backing gate and sorting gate.

AI and Foot-trimming skills preferred but training will be given to the right candidate and a passion for the industry and work is equally important.

Safe Use of Veterinary Medicines and a good knowledge of cow health and good practices.

Knowledge of data input systems/desire to learn essential.

You must be able to demonstrate an ability to work as a part of a team, working closely with the Herd manager to drive improvements within the herd and be able to guide and work alongside the milking assistants to ensure efficient clean milking and pro-active cow management.

We are located in Dunsby, just north of Bourne in South Lincolnshire.
