Herdsperson job - North Nottinghamshire
East Midlands

A Herdsperson is required to work at our purpose-built dairy unit in North Nottinghamshire. The unit houses a closed herd of 250 pedigree Holsteins. We are looking for a dairy enthusiast to join us and make up a small team of 3.

A proportion of our milk goes into making a raw milk cheese produced on-site and milk for sale in our Farm Shop, both of which require milk to be produced to a high standard.

We are part of a large estate farming around 5000 acres in hand, the estate is also home to a variety of other in hand business and education facilities.

The job holder will be required to feed using a Keenan mixer with pace box, afternoon milking through a 20/40 GEA parlour, AI, foot trimming and will be involved in the breeding strategies, pasture management and day-to-day management. We work heavily on prevention rather than cure - working closely with vets and with Nottingham University on data analysis. They will also be expected to deputise for the Herd Manager when required and carry out some night checks.

A competitive benefits package includes the provision of estate accommodation close to the unit and ongoing professional development.
