Herdsperson - Dorset

We have an exciting contract vacancy for a herdsperson to work with the herd manager caring for 300 cows on a modern unit near Beaminster in Dorset.

The unit forms part of a larger farming business encompassing another similar sized dairy, dairy youngstock, beef, sheep, arable with some contracting.

Cows calve all year round and are fed a TMR ration with yields of around 10,000 litres. Milking is through a 28:28 Fullwood parlour (fitted 2015) with auto ID, draft and wash; this is allied to an exceptional handling area.

As a key member of this three-person, self-relieving, team, the main duties will include milking, calving, yard work, cubicle bed preparation herd health and taking a lead on the manager’s days off.

We seek a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude. Along with having recent experience in a similar role.

An excellent package is on offer for the right candidate to include regular time off, a salary commensurate with the position, and a lovely two- bedroom cottage, a short drive from the unit but within the farm bounds, free from rent rates and council tax.
