Head Herdsperson job - Shropshire
West Midlands

Do you want a new challenge working for a progressive dairy company with a great herd of cows?

Yareal UK has been established to invest in and develop a modern sustainable agricultural and property business. We are seeking to recruit a Head Herdsperson for one of our four dairy sites in north Shropshire. This is a 300-cow unit and you will work closely with the Dairy Operations Manager and his team.

The purpose of the role is to manage a progressive and profitable dairy herd and to maintain the highest standards of husbandry and management. This is a hands-on role with key responsibilities including:

- milking the high performing Pedigree Jersey herd;

- herd nutrition, health and fertility.

The cows are milked through a modern 16:32 Fullwood parlour with in-parlour feeders, ACRs, milk meters, auto ID and auto shedding gate. The cows are grazed during the summer but are also buffer fed when required and winter cubicle housed.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of dairy husbandry and a proven track record in stockmanship. We value honesty, good communication and respectful behaviour to support the team and ensure the smooth running of the farm.

In return we offer a competitive salary with pension and life assurance with training and the potential for future advancement within the wider business. A cottage is provided on-farm which is close to all local amenities, free from rent and council tax.

This is an opportunity to be a key part in a successful and progressive business.
