We are an expanding agricultural business farming 2000 Hectares, roughly split half and half between our own land and contract farming land.
Based on the Bucks/Beds border, we have a team of 6 full time employees and take on a further 10 people over harvest time to fill roles including grain carting, baling, bale chasing and cultivations. We run a fleet of modern machinery, plus hire in additional tractors over summer when we are at our busiest.
We are currently hiring for harvest 2021 and require workers in the following roles:
General Harvest Worker
As a general harvest worker your principle job roll will be grain carting between the combines and our new grain handling plant. You will be responsible for daily servicing of your tractor and trailer plus sampling and recording each load over our weighbridge.
You will be towing an 18t grain trailer on a modern John Deere tractor with plenty of road work, so a good level tractor driving experience is required. Other roles when we are not harvesting may include; carting straw bales, loading grain and straw lorries, turning wet straw or grass topping.
Bale Chaser Operator
This role involves operating one of our two Heath Super Chaser Extra bale chasers on a new John Deere R-series tractor. Work will range between our own land and that of a number of our customers and will be a variety of making temporary stacks in fields and delivering bales directly to customers.
You will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of both the tractor and chaser so an understanding of agricultural machinery and good level of experience is required, experience with a bale chaser would be preferred but training can be provided. The ability to both solve problems when working alone and work well in a team is important.
All applicants must be hardworking, conscientious individuals with a strong willing to learn. A sound knowledge of agricultural machinery with a relevant level of experience is required, but further training and support will be provided. You will be working within a large team so you must be a team player and work well with others.
In return you will receive insight and experience of a large arable business working with contract farming customers and large modern machinery, alongside a group of likeminded individuals within a hardworking but sociable business (plenty of time to relax at the pub on wet/quiet days).
We pride ourselves on having a good team throughout harvest, with many harvest students returning in following years and moving up to more advanced roles including combine, challenger and baler driving. Accommodation is provided on farm and home cooked meals provided daily and delivered to the field when required.
A full UK driving licence is essential and telehandler certificate and B+E trailer test preferred. You must be available from July to mid-September.
