We are looking for a motivated and hardworking General Farm Worker to join our team on a thriving 2,500-acre mixed farm in South Somerset. This role is perfect for someone passionate about agriculture and keen to expand their skills, whether youre a new graduate or looking to take the next step in your farming career.

 

About Us

We are a forward-thinking, mixed Dairy and Arable Estate, milking 310 cows year-round using a modern 6-robot dairy system under a Tesco contract. Our arable side focuses on growing wheat, spring beans, grass, and maize, utilising the latest technology, including John Deere tractors with RTK guidance to maximise efficiency.

We are committed to sustainable farming practices and have recently entered into an expansive Mid-Tier environmental stewardship scheme. This includes the management of 125 ha of herbal-rich grass swards and extensive areas dedicated to wildlife conservation, such as winter bird feed habitats. Our goal is to blend top-quality food production with environmental responsibility.

In addition to our farming operations, our estate includes diversified businesses such as industrial units, a wedding venue, holiday lets, and hospitality, offering a dynamic and varied working environment.

 

The Role

As a General Farm Worker, you'll play a key role in our farms daily operations, contributing to both the dairy and arable enterprises, as well as supporting the wider estate. Your responsibilities will include:


  • Dairy Husbandry: Feeding and bedding the dairy herd and followers, ensuring excellent animal health and welfare

  • Machinery Operations: Operating tractors and telehandlers, and assisting with fieldwork, including cereal harvesting and crop management

  • Environmental Stewardship: Supporting our environmental initiatives, including rotational grazing

  • Estate Management: Assisting with tasks across the wider estate, including maintenance and support for our diversified enterprises

 

What Were Looking For

We're seeking an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about farming and eager to learn. The ideal candidate will have:


  • Some agricultural experience, in dairy or arable systems

  • A keen interest in machinery and equipment maintenance

  • A desire to embrace sustainable farming practices

  • A full UK driving licence

  • A strong work ethic, with a willingness to take on a variety of tasks
